Tribe 44’s origin is in Kenya. Indians have been a part of Kenyan culture, business, development and communities for generations.
On July 21st, 2017 Kenyans of Asian origin were formally recognized as the 44th tribe in Kenya.

1. That Kenyans of Asian Heritage constitute a Community that is one of the Tribes of Kenya; 2. That from now henceforth the Community of Kenyans of Asian Heritage are Kenya’s 44th Tribe,”
“Asian community” in Kenya designates those of Indo-Pakistani origin who made their homes in Kenya from the late 19th Century constructing a first railway link from the port of Mombasa to Kampala in Uganda.
“This contribution that began with the construction of our nation’s first railway line continues to this day, with the Kenyan Asian Community having a well-deserved reputation for excellence in industry as well as charitable and philanthropic works,” the President noted.
